Staff Certification Engineer, Electric Propulsion

What You’ll Do:

In this role you will be a technical leader in creation of Archer certification content, negotiating and resolving technical certification issues with the FAA and other regulatory agencies. You will coordinate with the High-Voltage Power System and Electric Engine departments to ensure their certification materials are technically sound, legitimately address the intent of all applicable regulations, and are clear, concise, and embody Archer’s commitment to flight safety.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and updating Archer Certification Engineering deliverables (e.g. Certification Plans, Test Plans)
• Leading the resolution and response to regulatory issues (e.g. Issue Papers) including coordinating with the affected engineering disciplines to investigate and resolve the issues and drafting or reviewing Archer technical positions and responses
• Overseeing and reviewing compliance deliverables prepared within the High-Voltage Power System and Electric Engine departments, ensuring quality and consistency in Archer’s certification data
• Participating in in-person or virtual meetings with regulatory authorities presenting Archer technical positions and negotiating issue resolution

What You Need:

• 10 years of experience in aerospace engineering roles, including at least 5 years of experience in civil aviation certification programs
• First-hand experience preparing Certification Engineering deliverables (e.g. Means of Compliance, Certification Plans, Issue Paper responses)
• First-hand experience interacting with civil aviation regulators as a certification applicant
• In-depth knowledge of one or more civil aviation regulation standards (e.g. 14 CFR Parts 23, 25, 27, or 29)
• In-depth knowledge of the FAA certification process
• Expert written and verbal technical communication
• General knowledge of civil aircraft development and all associated Engineering disciplines
• Ability to lead and coordinate content creation and issue resolution involving diverse groups of technical experts
• Degree in Engineering or equivalent field

Bonus Qualifications:

• End-to-end experience in one or more civil aviation programs, from initial application and Certification Basis definition to type certificate approval
• Experience with electric aircraft, eVTOL aircraft, or both fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft
• Advanced degree in aerospace-related Engineering field

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
