Staff Cloud Network Engineer

What you’ll do:

• Build the future of Galileo Networks with designs treating infrastructure as code
• Craft repeatable designs for internal and external connectivity and integrations
• Make your footprint bigger than your foot and lead cross-organizational projects to include network considerations in their products
• Innovate and be a standards bearer for platform automation and observability
• Partner with security to ensure that our network design and project implementations provide secure communications of customer data while enabling rapid innovation in the platform
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve cloud network service issues
• Use Observability Best Practices to make Network Health, and Network Events visible to internal partners
• Communicate tradeoffs in implementation options to team members and leadership
• Ensure the network performance provides the level of service required for a high-speed low latency payment processor while adhering to PCI best practices and requirements
• Produce professional diagrams and documentation for networks and operational standard methodologies, standards, policies and procedures.
• Define cloud architecture capabilities and ensure they are being met by the network services.
• Build and document new Infrastructure environments following industry best practices and internal security policies and standards.
• Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer and mentorship to engineering peers as required and lead technical staff responsibilities.
• Participate in capacity planning and demand forecasting, network software performance analysis and network tuning.

What you’ll need:

• Demonstrated understanding of networking design and implementation in hybrid cloud environments
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Inter-VPC and multi-account connectivity (for example, VPC peering, Transit Gateway, VPN, third-party vendors, SD-WAN, multiprotocol label switching [MPLS])
• 5+ years of demonstrated experience implementing AWS networking constructs for a multi-regional Cloud environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of the networking components and their uses in AWS
• Demonstrated experience in coding to develop, configuration management and network automation, and orchestration using automation frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Salt, and/or Chef
• 3+ years of experience in at least one high-level language and ability to implement automation across multiple platforms

Nice to have:

• Experience in Layer 4/Layer 7 Load Balancing design and optimization
• Certification in any of the following:
• AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
