Staff Consultant - Software Development and Program IT Infrastructure
Ball Aerospace is looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer to lead a team in the development and administration of Ball's software development infrastructure, program specific computing infrastructure, and customer delivered computing infrastructure. This position will be leading a team defining the architecture for systems (both cloud and bare metal) supporting such functions as software development, command and control, mission planning, mission data processing, and satellite simulation. The ideal candidate will have a detailed knowledge of system administration, cloud technologies, software development processes, infrastructure deployment/management technologies, information assurance, and CI/CD pipelines.
What You'll Do:
- Lead an integrated development team to execute program infrastructures.
- Work with Enterprise ITS to ensure proper interface between enterprise and program computing infrastructure functions.
- System Provisioning and Design.
- Cloud infrastructure automation (terraform)
- System infrastructure automation.
- Cloud administration.
- DevOps administration.
- Work with the following software development lifecycle concepts: DevOps, Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Deployment (CD).
- Setup, maintain, secure, and configure servers in both cloud and bare metal.
- Assist in software development and testing as necessary.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You'll Need:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 16 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph is required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience leading diverse team of SW and IT engineers in developing cloud-based solutions.
- Experience working with commercial cloud providers (Amazon, Microsoft, Google, etc).
- Experience designing and architecting cloud-based solution for complex IT solution.
- Experience in designing solutions using containerization and/or virtualization.
- Experience with engineering a ground-based satellite control system or data processing solution.
- Understanding of cybersecurity framework guidance (NIST 800-53, Cybersecurity Framework, FedRAMP, etc).
- Primary focus on Linux, with some minor experience in Windows.
- Experience in system security and hardening preferred.
Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Verification that your current security clearance or government customer access meets the requirement for this position will be required.
Relocation for this position is available.
Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $168,000 - $211,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
