Staff Consultant - Systems Analyst Lead (Temporary Part-Time)
This engineering position will have modeling and simulation as its area of specialization with a focus on leading a team analyzing complex system performance against mission-level needs.
What You'll Do:
- Lead mission analysis efforts of variety of remote sensing architectures within a small team. Systems analysis results will guide and/or set architecture, system and/or component requirements.
- Lead the decomposition of Mission and/or EO Payload requirements and planning and development of verification plans.
- Lead the team in generation of performance predictions by creating algorithms and generating MATLAB code.
- Work closely and provide input with hardware engineers to develop state-of-the-art system designs and performance.
- Contribute to completion of milestones within specific projects and provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers/management/customers.
- Provide mentorship to junior analysts in mission analysis and/or modeling and simulation techniques.
- Responsibilities may include new business support in the form of proposal writing and/or cost/schedule estimation.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You'll Need:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 16 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Experience with analysis of systems, dissection of complex problems, and identification of key performance drivers.
- Familiarity with the development of customized code, scripts, modules, macro procedures, and libraries to implement specialized mission analysis functions using languages such as MATLAB, Python, Java, or similar scripting and development languages.
- Solid analytical modeling capabilities and the ability to appropriately guide the documentation of results.
- Customer Relationships: Extensive knowledge of missions and customers across core technologies areas. Knowledge/experience working with critical customer base and experienced at establishing relationships with key personnel within customer community.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in relevant business environments.
- Superb presentation skills with experience presenting technical results to senior customers and technical review meetings.
- Ability to interface with technicians, peers, senior-level engineers, business development, management.
- Ability to contribute to the success of small teams through excellent leadership and teamwork.
Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Working Conditions:

- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
- This is a part-time position - 15-25 hours per week.
A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Relocation for this position is not available.
Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $80.77 - $101.68 per hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
