What you will do-

We're looking for an experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer with the ability to influence teams to execute plans and deliver results. Someone who is an advocate for operational excellence and efficiency; a self-directed leader who can anticipate and overcome obstacles and communicate effectively; and an emerging medical device industry professional who is passionate about providing superior quality products to patients and customers.

  • You will engage in Industrial Engineering and Lean Manufacturing projects within the Continuous Improvement Group, across the site and across the franchise as needed.
  • You will be a member of one or more cross-functional operations teams tasked with effectively launching new product introductions and will lead key process improvement projects integral to the site's and franchise's strategic growth plan. You will have the opportunity to:
  • Analyze and Implement lean process improvements to reduce cost and improve efficiencies in partnership with the business. Perform and evaluate work measurement and workflow analysis for the establishment of standards and the utilization of production facilities.
  • Partner with senior engineers to develop plant and equipment layout, capacity plans, workflow and accident prevention measures to maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities. Provide product assembly instructions and standardizes assembly practices.

LEAN MANUFACTURING

  • Drive and support the advancement of Lean Manufacturing culture, principles and practices across the plant and franchise.
  • Work with leadership to create and drive the Lean vision site and contribute to overall lean vision for franchise
  • Coach, mentor and lead project groups through Stryker Production System and Lean Lighthouse initiatives.
  • Identification of improvement opportunities and initiation of project teams to achieve site goals and facilitating the removal of barriers to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Constantly promote, educate, and instill culture of identification and elimination of waste throughout both plant and franchise within manufacturing areas and also in support / transactional areas.
  • Ensure that Lean activities and projects are linked such that the entire value stream is addressed, and maximum benefit is extracted from Lean activities.
  • Assist in developing a road map for lean on-site, with key site goals and timelines
  • Lead, manage and coach assigned personnel, as required
  • Develop and Implement a range of Lean and Industrial Engineering tools to improve overall performance and reduce costs
  • Foster a strong working relationship with the central Continuous Improvement team

ENGINEERING STANDARDS & CAPACITY PLANNING

  • Work with Finance to manage the annual update of the Engineering Standard Times for the site.
  • Conduct Production capacity analysis and provide input to the integrated business planning process
  • Develop Capacity scenarios to assist Operations in identifying suitable flexing strategies
  • Assist Operations in headcount planning
  • Provide support to manufacturing as required to meet the business targets and Objectives

SPATIAL PLANNING & OPTIMIZATION

  • Work with Process Development, Production, Facilities and Manufacturing Engineering teams to lead facility/line layout design and implementation projects.
  • Review requests for changes to facility layouts and propose options for review/ approval.
  • Ensure that plant layout drawings are correct and up to date at all times and that "free space" is created strategically to allow for improved flow and/or provision for new/additional production lines to support increased volume & new product introduction.
  • Optimize existing space utilization and provide input into the site spatial strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a site spatial strategy

Who we want-

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or science field required (Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronic, Operations, Production, etc.) required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience required
  • A3 problem solving and decision-making skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional project teams utilizing sound project management skills, in addition to experience and expertise in change control and/or validation - required
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Lean/IE tools and methods required
  • 3 yrs Medical device experience - preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification - preferred
