The Position:

As a Staff Core Services Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for owning the best practices of services across GameChanger as well as maintaining the health of our API server codebase (including the developer experience of working on it). You’ll own the frameworks and SDK that underpin GameChanger’s development. You will lead changes to our server side codebase to make it more performant, productive, and scalable. You will report to one of our Engineering Managers.

What You'll Do:

• Lead architectural decisions to ensure productivity + efficiency as our codebase grows.

• Drive changes to our API and SDK to facilitate server/client communication.

• Introduce code patterns and tools to improve developer ergonomics.

• Lead cross-team discussions on critical decisions about how our applications are architected and built.

• Teach and learn with engineers across the company.

• Work across the Platform group to ensure fluidity between our frontend, services and infrastructure.

• Define and promote responsible engineering practices.

Who You Are:

• Experience scaling a codebase to a large number of users and engineers.

• Track record of successful projects utilizing Typescript and Node.js.

• Experience writing scalable, performant server-side code.

• Passion and savvy working with the latest in web and server development tech.

• A leader, willing to take ownership for the success of the team.

• Outstanding problem-solving skills and ability to communicate solutions clearly.

• Strong background of successfully mentoring engineers.

• Enjoys building a collaborative atmosphere to create solutions to complex problems.

Experience:

Our backend APIs are built with TypeScript, Node.js, Redis, and PostgreSQL and run in AWS.

• 7+ years in a software development role

• 3+ years experience leading and implementing complex designs.

• 3+ years experience working in a Node.js environment is required.

• Experience with TypeScript is preferred.

• Experience with a system deployed in an AWS environment is preferred.

The target salary range for this position is between $190,000 and $220,000. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes incentive, equity, and benefits for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all teammate pay regularly to ensure competitive and fair pay.

Compensation Range: $190K - $220K
