We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer, who has a passion for technology to help us add new exciting features to our extremely successful real estate platform. Movoto + OJO brings scale, opportunities to solve unique problems, and the ability to drive significant outcomes for the organization.  
 

What we're looking for:

  • 10+ years of hands-on development experience
  • Experience in Java or other Object Oriented languages and Big Data Technologies
  • Proficiency in building and scaling Data Lakes/Warehouses and Data Pipelines using Python or a JVM language
  • Demonstrated track record of interacting with data stakeholders including Data Science, Business Analytics, and Product Management
  • Strong communication skills
  • An appetite to learn the craft of software development and data engineering
  • Proven interests in OJO and attention to detail. Please put “Ada Lovelace” in your resume or your cover letter
  • Proven track record of building development teams through mentoring and coaching and guiding them
  • Ability to balance long term architectural vision with immediate business needs
  • Computer Science or other technical degree (or equivalent job experience)

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience building maintainable systems supported by automated tests
  • Experience with Kotlin, Python, Redshift, Postgres, Elasticsearch, and message brokers
  • Experience with big data technologies (Data Catalogs, Spark, Hadoop, Hive)
