ABOUT THE ROLE
Peloton is looking for a Staff Data Engineer to build our new Enterprise Data Platform. You will work with multiple teams of passionate and skilled data engineers, analytics engineers, and data scientists responsible for building batch and streaming data pipelines that process terabytes of data daily and support all of the analytics, business intelligence, data science and reporting data needs across the organization.
Peloton is a cloud first engineering organization with all of our data infrastructure in AWS using EMR, AWS Glue, Redshift, S3, Apache Hudi, and Apache Spark. You will be interacting with many business teams including marketing, sales, supply chain, logistics, finance and partner to scale Peloton’s data infrastructure for future strategic needs.
YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
- Design, develop, and operate highly-scalable, high-performance, low-cost, and accurate data pipelines in distributed data processing platforms.
- Develop the vision and map strategy to provide proactive solutions and enable stakeholders to extract insights and value from data.
- Work with engineering teams on data governance policies to ensure continuity of pipelines.
- Understand end to end data interactions and dependencies across sophisticated data pipelines and data transformation and how they impact business decisions.
- As a senior technical leader, you will mentor and guide a distributed team of data engineers.
- Work with SRE and Engineering teams on data observability and user activity tracking.
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
- 8+ years in building data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes, using open source technologies such as Airflow, AirByte, DBT, Apache Hudi, Apache Spark, etc.
- Proficient with at least two of the programming languages: Python, Java, and Scala.
- Deep knowledge about infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code utilities, such as Linux operating systems, Docker, Kubetnetes, and Terraform.
- Experiences with Kafka, schema registries, and wire formats.
- Experiences with REST for accessing cloud based services.
- Excellent knowledge about databases, such as PostgreSQL and Redshift.
- Experiences with GIT, Github, JIRA and SCRUM.
- Experience with CI/CD Systems such as for example: Jenkins, ArgoCD, Harness, Tekton, etc.
- A computer science degree or equivalent is required, advanced degree preferred.
