Staff Data Engineer, AIX
Job Description
As a Staff Data Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and optimizing data infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform. Your expertise will be critical in developing scalable and efficient data solutions that address complex business requirements and support advanced analytics and reporting initiatives. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, data analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless data integration and delivery. Additionally, you will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior members of the data engineering team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and Develop Data Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines and ETL processes on Microsoft Azure to ingest, process, and transform data from various sources into structured, usable formats.
- Azure Data Platform Expertise: Leverage your in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics (formerly Azure SQL Data Warehouse), Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure SQL Database to architect and optimize data solutions.
- Data Modeling and Warehousing: Create and maintain data models and data warehousing solutions that facilitate efficient data retrieval, reporting, and analytics.
- Data Governance and Security: Implement data governance best practices and ensure data security, compliance, and privacy measures are in place to protect sensitive data.
- Performance Tuning and Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize data solutions to improve query performance and reduce data processing times.
- Collaborate with Data Teams: Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, and other cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, provide data engineering support, and deliver valuable insights.
- Cloud Cost Management: Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage to control costs and ensure cost-effectiveness in data processing and storage.
- Documentation and Training: Create technical documentation, best practices, and guidelines for data engineering processes, as well as provide training to team members.
- Research and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in the data engineering field and identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
Requirements

- Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering with a focus on Azure data services and solutions.
- Professional-level certifications in Microsoft Azure, such as Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert, are highly desirable.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform.
- Strong programming skills in languages like Python, SQL, and Scala.
- Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or Cosmos DB.
- Knowledge of data integration techniques, data lakes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance principles.
- Ability to analyze complex data requirements, troubleshoot issues, and propose innovative data engineering solutions.
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team of data engineers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

Salary Range
Alphatec Spine, Inc. complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate's qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $150,000 to $170,000 Full-Time Annual Salary
