Overview

Data Scientists at Blitz use their data analytics, statistics, machine learning, and creative thinking skills to solve challenging questions about players, games, and much more. This work is additionally supported by their experience with data processing and building products that rely on data. They are able to apply their knowledge and develop new solutions to solve problems that are unique to Blitz with the ultimate goal of creating the best possible coaching and learning experience for players using our app.

As a Staff Data Scientist at Blitz working on gameplay analytics and coaching, you will be responsible for identifying, learning about, and presenting valuable and unique insights to build our understanding of how various games can be played in more informed and optimized manners. You’ll also work with our Product and Engineering teams to translate these findings into actionable coaching feedback for our players, whether it’s through building and launching new features or helping us steer our product direction.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Analyze large datasets of millions to billions of rows of data to generate and present useful insights throughout the company
  • Train machine learning models to power data-driven coaching features for various games
  • Work with engineers to implement and deploy machine learning models
  • Interact with stakeholders across product and engineering teams to identify and design novel features and products
  • Mentor other data scientists and help them develop their technical skills

What It Takes To Be Successful

  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, or related quantitative field
  • 4+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, and analytics
  • Highly proficient in SQL and proficiency in Python
  • Experience with processing large datasets of millions to billions of rows of data (Snowflake, Databricks)
  • Experience with machine learning modeling (deep learning, reinforcement learning, traditional machine learning methods, recommendation systems)
  • Strong structured problem solving and critical thinking skills when presented with ambiguous problems
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, as you will be working directly with product teams
  • Familiarity with gaming (MOBAs and shooters are a plus)

Nice To Have

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field
  • Experience with large data processing systems (e.g. Spark)
  • Experience in the gaming industry

Pay and Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $210k-230k USD + bonus
