Job Description
SailPoint
SailPoint is the leader in identity management and delivers an innovative approach to securing access across the enterprise with the SailPoint Predictive Identity platform. With SailPoint, enterprises can ensure that everyone and everything has the exact access they need, exactly when they need it, intuitively and automatically. As a developer advocate, you will be playing an essential part in increasing the awareness and adoption of SailPoint technologies with our customers and partners, as well as ensuring that our developer community is successful throughout their journey. As part of the team, you will have a high degree of autonomy and support to pursue the initiatives you see fit for your product(s) or areas of ownership. You will be on a team of other Developer advocates, full-time engineers, and a technical writer. This role will report directly to the Head of Developer Relations and falls under the Product & Engineering organization.
Developer Advocate
Developer Advocates at SailPoint are responsible for advocating both for and to our developers to ensure that SailPoint is building the most ideal experience for integrating with our products. You will act as a bi-directional line of communication between developers and SailPoint, while building additional developer experience on top of the product along the way. Some examples of this (though not an exhaustive list) include:
- Engage regularly with product management and engineering to ensure product-readiness for developers, acting as a stakeholder for external developers.
- Write in-depth documentation, quick start guides, and in-depth guides and tutorials on developing using your product or features
- Contribute, where necessary, to existing developer tools that pertain to your product or feature
- Support developers in our community forum who are using your product(s) or feature(s), understanding their perspectives, workflows, and use cases.
- Build example applications that inspire developers where to get started, utilizing our tools and documentation
- Write blog posts on an as-needed basis that help our developer community to solve timely problems that long-term documentation or guides wouldn't cover
- Create videos, education components, also on an as-needed basis
- Participate in live streams throughout the year, and our annual developer conference
You will be the owner of the developer experience for one or more impactful products or features that solves a well-defined problem in the identity governance space. You have the freedom to lead your project and technical design for your developer experience, guiding and enabling the best decisions to be made by our team, and recommendations made to our PMs and Engineering teams. You will be supported by the lead Developer Advocate as well as your DevRel team in your endeavors-you are never alone in your work. You should be unfazed by ambiguity, having the ability to discern what is and is not working, and work towards a recommended solution.
Our team has a shared responsibility in defining, building, managing, and growing the SailPoint Developer Community.
Requirements
This is a public-facing role. You must possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels, internally and externally, and across diverse geographies, leveraging remote teaming technologies.
- 5+ years experience working in identity governance
- Experience working or participating in developer communities
- Strong familiarity and knowledge of REST APIs and webhooks
- Practical knowledge of working in identity governance, particularly with SailPoint products
- 3+ years of programming experience is preferred. Less years are encouraged to apply if you feel confident in other requirements
- Experience and comfortability with any programming language is a plus, though, language agnostic is preferred
This remote position can be located in the US, Canada, Mexico, or India.
SailPoint is an equal opportunity employer and we welcome everyone to our team. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
