About the role:

Unite US is seeking an exceptional individual to be part of the cutting-edge Unite Us Engineering platform and lead the design and development of our DevOps processes for the organization. The Staff DevOps Engineer is a thought leader in the automation of software delivery solutions at Unite Us. The Staff DevOps Engineer will have a background in development, operations, and full-stack software implementations. They are an expert in programming in a high-level language such as Ruby, Python, Java, or another language. Must research and deliver new and innovative methods for providing continuous delivery solutions in Unite Us cloud environment. The Staff DevOps Engineer establishes and employs Continuous Integration practices and tools such as Jenkins or other CI tools. Configures management automation tools from AWS or other cloud providers in creating continuous delivery systems. Employs industry Continuous Delivery patterns and collaboratively works with other members to achieve successful continuous delivery solutions. The Staff  DevOps Engineer is responsible for mentoring and teaching existing team members. As such, must clearly explain solutions to complex problems and demonstrate the ability to lead and impart knowledge effectively to junior resources.

• Lead projects that improve stability, performance, and scalability across multiple systems
• Build and implements scalable solutions early on to eliminate barriers to achieving goals
• Participate in the creation of the roadmaps and ensuing feedback
• Evaluate and create new product features based on customer needs in collaboration with the product team
• Play a greater role to simplify the product and technical design through collaboration with members of Technology
• Leverage their deep industry knowledge when solving technical problems to ensure there is a positive impact in the overall business
• Anticipate the future and makes design decisions that minimize the cost of future changes
• Take the lead in introducing new and better ways to solve problems even if they have never been done before
• Mentor members of other teams as needed
• Contribute to the early development of a fast-growing startup

You're a great fit for this role if you have:

• At least 3 years of educating and mentoring on DevOps practices and principles
• At least 5 years’ experience in DevOps engineering creating and automating CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub following GitOps principles
• Proven track record evangelizing DevOps principles with an organization
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps with hands-on knowledge on cloud platforms, Container (Docker) based applications, Kubernetes based deployments
• Expertise in development and scripting languages; a strong preference for Ruby
• Expertise in troubleshooting and system administration tasks in Linux and Unix
• Fluent in speaking and writing English
• Passion for high quality

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:

• This position location is remote, US based
• Target range: $180,000-195,000. This salary range represents our national target range for this role. Some geographic areas may have higher target ranges.
