GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Carrier Corporation is a leading provider of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, building controls and automation, and fire and security systems leading to safer, smarter, sustainable, and high-performance buildings. Each day, the team at Carrier is working to meet some of the most unique and exciting global challenges in heating and air conditioning. To continue to maintain our role as a global leader, we are always looking for talented, ambitious individuals to join us. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are looking for an opportunity to develop your career, then we have a great opportunity for you.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Carrier is looking for a highly motivated and results driven Senior Systems Engineer to work with the Commercial Controls Engineering team to support projects focusing on control software design and development for embedded HVAC systems.

The Systems Engineering position is a critical position and the selected individual will play a key role in the following areas of product development: requirements definition, system architecture and decomposition and system integration and validation of the control systems in Charlotte, NC. He or she will actively develop standard work and methodologies to ensure that systems engineering practices are followed during product development. Systems engineers work closely with product development engineers, test teams, product managers, quality representatives and field representatives to analyze product requirements, develop concepts and estimate deliveries, design and implement changes.

Specifying system requirements is a critical activity in large and complex systems development. Systems engineers need to elicit, analyze, and evolve the system requirements, as these radically affect the system's performance, robustness, endurance, and appeal. As we enter the arena of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to provide us a framework for effective and consistent systems engineering and architecting, we propose to on-board a new hire who can help facilitate a more effective transition from customer requirements to system requirements, and from there to system architecture specification.

  • System Design
    • Develop system design concepts which satisfy requirements and architectural constraints
    • Perform analysis on system models as required to support tradeoffs studies
    • Track and review implementation of component designs to ensure that they meet overall requirements identified in system and subsystem documents
  • System Validation
    • Plan and execute integration of components comprising the system to ensure system performance meets requirements
    • Develop tests as required to quantify the performance of critical components and the system as a whole
    • Support development of functional test plans and test cases for requirements validation
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Create processes and standard work to ensure application of systems engineering techniques and methodologies to product development
    • Actively participate in process improvement activities to improve the quality of the products delivered by the organization
