 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, optimize, and maintain customer-facing products and platforms.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership with engineering.
  • Design elegant abstractions, highly useable and elegant products, and robust APIs.
  • Work closely with engineers, product owners, and stakeholders across the company.
  • Communicate persuasively with peers to inspire cooperation and collaboration.
  • Mentor, pair, and delegate work to encourage the growth of others.
  • Make well-reasoned decisions that inspire and energize others.
  • Provide technical leadership so that others can contribute confidently.
  • Help recruit, interview, and generally make Sotheby’s a great home for developers.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • 7+ years of experience in engineering; building product frontends, backends, APIs, services, and platforms.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages including but not limited to: Go, Node.js, Javascript, Python, Scala, or Java.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Experience with relational database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Exposure to Microservices Architecture and Observability (Kubernetes, Docker, Services Meshes, Distributed Services, Tracing).
  • Exposure to event streaming platforms (such as Kafka and Kinesis).

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $175,000-$215,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
