Staff Engineer

This is a high-impact technical leadership role focused on shaping the architecture and scalability of a critical revenue-driving SaaS platform. You will operate as a senior individual contributor, influencing engineering direction across multiple teams and product domains. The role sits at the intersection of system design, platform evolution, and business-critical decision-making. You will help define long-term technical strategy while staying deeply hands-on in solving complex engineering challenges. A major focus will be guiding large-scale system evolution, including database optimization and modernization of legacy architectures. Working closely with Product, Engineering, and Executive stakeholders, you will ensure technical decisions align with business growth. This is a role for a systems thinker who thrives in high-scale, fast-evolving environments.

• Lead the architectural vision and technical strategy for critical product domains, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and aligned with long-term business growth.
• Drive modernization efforts by guiding the transition from monolithic systems to distributed, service-oriented architectures.
• Act as a technical escalation point for complex engineering challenges, providing clear direction on high-impact design decisions.
• Optimize database performance and cost efficiency, with a strong focus on PostgreSQL scaling and tuning at enterprise level.
• Define and uphold engineering standards, promoting best practices in system design, documentation, and delivery.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, and Engineering stakeholders to translate business needs into sustainable technical roadmaps.
• Identify systemic inefficiencies across teams and drive initiatives that improve developer productivity and platform consistency.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, distributed systems, or large-scale application development.
• Proven expertise in system architecture, including designing and operating highly scalable and resilient platforms.
• Strong experience with database systems, particularly PostgreSQL, in high-scale production environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical strategy and influence architectural decisions across multiple teams.
• Deep systems thinking skills with the ability to identify bottlenecks, dependencies, and long-term structural risks.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, with experience leading through influence rather than authority.
• Experience working in cross-functional environments alongside Product and Design teams.
• Strong background in engineering excellence, including mentoring, documentation, and developer experience improvement.
