Staff Engineer, Developer Experience

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer who will play a pivotal role in leading and enhancing the developer experience across our development team. In this position, you will be responsible for driving the product vision for developer experience, ensuring that our developers have a seamless and productive day-to-day experience. Your expertise will help shape the tools, processes, and workflows that enable our developers to deliver high-quality software efficiently. You will also be instrumental in measuring the success of our developer experience initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and execution of the product vision for developer experience, aligning it with the company's overall objectives and goals.
• Develop a strong community that offers support and guidance to developers, while also motivating them to engage and contribute to the community.
• Design and implement scalable and efficient tools, frameworks, and processes that streamline the development workflow and enhance developer productivity.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices related to developer tools, frameworks, and technologies, and evaluate their potential impact on our developer experience and productivity
• Work closely with the development team to understand their pain points, gather feedback, and proactively address their needs to create a better day-to-day experience.
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success and effectiveness of our developer experience initiatives.
• Analyze organizational dynamics and culture to promote adoption of improvement efforts.
• Analyze data and gather insights to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making processes related to developer experience.
• Mentor and guide other engineers in the team, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (10+  years) as a software engineer 
• Experience in developer tools, frameworks, and processes
• Proven track record of leading and delivering successful projects related to developer experience.
• A developer-centric mindset and a passion for building high-quality platforms for other developers.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud native software development practices, tools, and technologies.
• Prior experience in mentoring and guiding other engineers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems and workflows and value streams.
• Experience with agile development methodologies and working in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

Preferred:

• Experience with organization and workflow analysis techniques, such as Cognitive Task Analysis, Value Stream Mapping, Business Process Mapping, and SPACE.
• Passion for creating an exceptional developer experience and driving continuous improvement.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization.
• Well versed in AWS/GCP cloud technologies
• Working experience in Kubernetes and docker infrastructure
• Java/golang/python development experience
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform/ Cloudformation)
