This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.
Your Responsibilities
As a Staff Engineer in the area of Dynamic System Modeling (DSM) within the Virtual Systems Analysis team at John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) division located in Waterloo, IA you will be responsible for development of an eco-system with tools and methodologies that advances the use of system simulations to support model based product development activities at JDPS. In this position you will:
  • Construct advanced system simulation environments (e.g. an infrastructure for doing system simulations in the cloud for running vehicle application cycles)
  • Leverage and build on proprietary and commercial simulation workflow tools to maximize reuse
  • Collaborate closely with plant model (i.e. GT-SUITE models) and controls model developers to facilitate the system simulations
  • Develop interfaces to enable system simulations to interact with the existing data infrastructure
  • Advance tools and processes towards automation of system simulation and dissemination of results
  • Identify and collaborate with JDPS and other John Deere Enterprise teams to facilitate the above
  • Develop and maintain the vision for expansion of system simulation throughout the product lifecycle

What Skills You Need
  • Demonstrated leadership in translating abstract technical concepts into actionable deliverables
  • At least 10 years of expertise and industry experience in areas related to system modeling and simulation
  • At least 5 years of comprehensive experience with the simulation tools MATLAB/Simulink, GT-SUITE, or similar industry-standard tools
  • Background in tools related to computing environment, automation, and data infrastructure
  • Excellent communication and team skills

What Makes You Stand Out
  • Deep understanding of diesel engine systems related to performance, controls, or design
  • Knowledge and experience with DSM Workflow
  • Ability to work across various functional areas and teams and positively influence towards targeted outcomes
  • Capability to work with consultants and software vendors to improve and advance tool capabilities by identifying such areas
  • Master's of Science or higher degree in an Engineering discipline

Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in an Engineering discipline is required
