What You’ll Do
Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.is looking for a talented and motivated location systems engineer. Candidate will work as part of the Connectivity Location team responsible for system/algorithm design, modeling/implementation and product performance optimization of cutting-edge location IP that powers some of the top brands in mobile and wearable markets.
Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose Headquarters  3-5 days per week with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your timeÂ
- Analyze RF system performance and debug RF related issue
- Analyze product and 3GPP radio systems requirements to develop RFFE and RFIC specifications
- Analyze and develop, along with modem systems, algorithms for RF calibration, impairments compensation, and enhancement techniques
- Support radio system lab testing of key RF KPIs and validation of key RF/Modem systems IP in the RFIC/SoC
- Support engagement with key OEMs in providing RF systems expertise to validate requirements and sustain development with radio chipset in production or for next generation platform
- Support RF SW team to facilitate implementation of RF device drivers and control software for RFIC and RF Front -End components
- Define comprehensive RF parametric HW characterization and validation test plans to ensure GNSS products conform to industry standards
- Define sophisticated experiments using modified hardware, experimental setups, circuit and system-level simulations to understand risks and root causes
- Debugging, root-causing and collaborating on corrective action for identified RF issues working with chipset and system partners
- Collaborating in optimizing GNSS performance across hardware, firmware, software and algorithms
- Design test campaigns, characterize and optimize chip performance through lab and field tests.
- Must be open for occasional international travel (up to ~2 trips a year).
What You Bring
- Bachelors with 10+ years of relevant industry experience, or Masters with 8+ years or PhD with 5+ years in Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Physics or related field
- Proficiency in GNSS transceiver, RF front-end architectures and performance tradeoffs
- Proficiency in system-level RF parametric its sources in RF component characteristics and behavior
- Hands-on system-level debug and optimization experience on RF conducted characteristics
- Experience with test set-ups of sophisticated RF test equipment for hardware validation
- Experience in characterizing and validating devices towards industry RF standards using RF lab test equipment (power meter, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, etc.)
- Understanding in two or more topics in GNSS receiver systems/algorithms such as KF, sensor fusion, VDR, PDR, RTK, INS etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Data analysis, visualization and triage experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
