Staff Engineer, Software Engineering

This role is a senior technical leadership position focused on designing and building next-generation software systems that power advanced diagnostic and life sciences technologies. You will take ownership of end-to-end software architecture, combining deep hands-on engineering with strategic technical direction. The position requires strong expertise in cloud-native development and full-stack engineering, with a strong emphasis on Java-based ecosystems and AWS infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware, research, product, and operations to deliver scalable and high-impact solutions. A significant part of your work will involve coding, ensuring architectural vision is translated into robust, production-ready systems. This is a high-impact role where your contributions directly support innovation in healthcare and global diagnostics.

• Define and lead software architecture and design for next-generation diagnostic and platform products.
• Drive hands-on development, implementation, and deployment of scalable cloud-based systems using modern engineering practices.
• Contribute actively to coding (approximately 60% of time) across backend and full-stack components to bring architectural designs to life.
• Design and implement automated testing strategies across unit, component, and system levels.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, research, QA, product, and operations to ensure successful product delivery.
• Conduct architecture and design reviews, ensuring alignment with technical standards and product requirements.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies and tools to continuously improve system scalability and engineering efficiency.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent with 8+ years of software development experience.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience as a technical architect designing cloud-native applications.
• Strong hands-on expertise with AWS, including design, development, and deployment of cloud solutions.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring, Angular, REST APIs, and full-stack web application development.
• Solid understanding of system design, distributed architectures, and scalable software systems.
• Experience working across full application layers from backend systems to UI development.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with distributed global teams.
• Experience in Agile environments with strong software engineering best practices.
• AWS certification or experience applying AI to improve operational efficiency is a plus.
