Staff Infrastructure Engineer

 RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build, optimize, and maintain an infrastructure platform that enables other engineers and product teams to work faster and more efficiently
• Design elegant abstractions, useable and practical tools, and robust APIs
• Work closely with engineers, product owners, and stakeholders across the company
• Communicate persuasively with peers to inspire cooperation and collaboration
• Mentor, pair, and delegate work to encourage the growth of others
• Make well-reasoned decisions that inspire and energize others
• Provide technical leadership so that others can contribute confidently
• Help recruit, interview, and generally make Sotheby’s a great home for developers

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

• 6+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering building platforms, infrastructure, and deployment and infrastructure tooling
• Experience with one or more programming languages including but not limited to: Go, Node.js, Python, Scala, or Java
• Experience with Cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience with build tooling (Bazel, Pants)
• Experience with automation tools (Terraform, Cloudformation)
• Experience with relational database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Exposure to Microservices Architecture and Observability (Kubernetes, Docker, Services Meshes, Distributed Services, Tracing)
• Exposure to event streaming platforms (such as Kafka and Kinesis)

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $175,000-$215,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
