Checkr is looking for a Staff Infrastructure Security Engineer to help develop, design, and execute our DevSecOps, infrastructure, and information security program and priorities. This role and the team will collaborate and coordinate with our product, data, platform, and infrastructure (production and corporate) engineering teams and work closely with our DevOps, reliability engineers, security, and other engineers. You will contribute to protecting Checkr and the people who trust us with their information and safety. What a typical week may look like at Checkr:

  • Provide subject matter expertise on cloud and data center infrastructure security.
  • Partner with various teams to improve security methodologies to our infrastructure and services.
  • Research, design and develop solutions meeting internal and external security requirements and standards.
  • Design and deploy infrastructure security tools and monitoring.
  • Drive detection, response, investigation, and remediation of infrastructure security vulnerabilities.
  • Consult and advise on infrastructure security architecture, authentication, configurations, policies, and processes.
  • Occasionally participate in a shared team on-call schedule. 

What we value in an Infrastructure Security Engineer:

  • Passionate opinions about CI/CD, Kubernetes, and serverless technologies.
  • Knowledge of secure development principles and DevSecOps.
  • Expertise in AWS and Azure security controls, monitoring and orchestration.
  • Expertise in cloud-first architectures, APIs, and DevSecOps tools.
  • Security experience with items such as: Terraform, Snowflake, CloudFlare, Postgres, MongoDB, Okta, and Auth0.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microservice architecture and security. 
  • In-depth technical knowledge of security engineering, network security, authentication, security protocols, and vulnerability management.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in cloud architectures (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, distributed systems) and approaches to address their unique management and security considerations.
  • Deep understanding of applying defensive infrastructure automation, advanced threat detection and attack prevention.
  • 7+ years experience in the security infrastructure space
  • 2+ years experience in a leadership role

Brownie Points:

  • Deep knowledge of shifting left in security for infrastructure as code. 
  • Working knowledge of Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) and Vulnerability Management Tools such as Prisma Cloud, Tenable, Qualys, and alike. 
  • Proven track record of implementing and/or managing SIEM/SOAR platforms. 
  • Worked in a fast-paced startup environment.

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors.  In accordance with Colorado law, the base salary for this role if filled within Colorado is $131,495- $154,700.
