We are looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer - Spatial Integration to join our team. The goal of Spatial Integration engineers at Wisk is to ensure that all of the aircraft systems, components, and wiring are well integrated to ensure that our all-electric, autonomous aircraft performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment. You will be part of the Aircraft Integration team that defines the functional, logical and physical aspects of the Aircraft, as well as integrates and verifies systems and components on test rigs and the aircraft in support of a type certification.
What you will do:
- Lead Spatial Integration across the Aircraft to ensure all hardware and systems are spatially integrated, meeting all zonal, clearance and accessibility requirements.
- Manage a small but awesome team of engineers solving integration issues during the design, development, manufacturing and test phases of the programÂ
- Work on root cause and corrective actions for complex multidisciplinary, cross-team issues to ensure the Aircraft meets its intended function, mass, cost, performance etc.Â
- Ensure System Safety aspects are considered throughout the design and addressed by the architecture and system design.Â
- Interface with all teams, and at all levels, within the Engineering organization.Â
- Provide guidance and mentorship to your team and support process and guideline development.
- Own Installation drawings and be a primary interface to the Production team.Â
What you have done:
- B.S. or M.S in a relevant engineering discipline with at least 10 years of experience in the design, development, and certification of complex aircraft.
- Successfully managed small teams of engineers and technicians through complex, fast moving aircraft programs.Â
- You have worked on various aircraft types and phases of development programs from conceptual design to entry into service, and were involved in multiple trade studies and root cause activities leading to certifiable solutions.
- You have direct experience solving spatial/volume integration issues and working across different teams to collaborate and find optimal solutions.
- You have a strong and applied knowledge of complex safety critical systems development process methodologies and associated practices such as but not limited to ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-297
- You have a strong and applied understanding of the certification regulations from several of the following: Part 23, 25, 27, 29, 33, 35.Â
Desired:
- Electric Aircraft experience, EVTOL or ECTOL
- Experience of formal problem solving tools and frameworks
