Staff Mobile Engineer (Android) (Remote)

THE PURPOSE:

Slickdeals is seeking a skilled and motivated Staff-level Android Mobile Engineer to join our team. We are looking for someone with a strong background in Android app development who can contribute to the development and maintenance of our mobile application. The right candidate will have a solid understanding of Android development patterns, frameworks, and best practices, along with a passion for creating high-quality user experiences. As a Staff-level engineer, you will play a key role in shaping our mobile app and driving its success.

THE ROLE:

• Collaborate with technical management, engineers, product managers, and designers to develop innovative mobile solutions for Slickdeals users.
• Design, develop, test, and debug Android applications for a seamless mobile experience.
• Write unit and functional tests to ensure the quality and stability of the app.
• Work closely with the backend team to integrate new features and enhancements into the existing app.
• Optimize and maintain the performance of the Android app.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute improvements to our mobile architecture and development processes.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Android development trends and technologies and actively share knowledge with the team.

THE CANDIDATE:

• Strong proficiency in Android app development using Java or Kotlin (experience with Kotlin is highly desirable).
• Solid understanding of Android frameworks, design patterns, and best practices.
• Experience in building and shipping high-quality, user-friendly Android applications using either Java or Kotlin.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of engineers, product owners, and designers.
• Experience working on large-scale apps with a focus on performance optimization and memory management.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset to identify and resolve issues.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate ideas and collaborate with team members.
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
• Familiarity with Agile development processes.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
• Passion for creating beautiful and engaging apps that delight users.
• Strong focus on user experience and attention to detail in app design and development.
• Ability to understand customer needs and translate them into intuitive and visually appealing mobile experiences.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience as an Android mobile engineer in an e-commerce or deal-oriented industry.
• Experience with mobile app testing frameworks and tools.
• Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment processes.
• Experience with performance profiling and optimization of Android applications.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integrating them into Android apps.
• Experience with Firebase or other analytics and crash reporting tools.
• Passion for staying updated on the latest Android and mobile development trends.
