The Data Manager will devise and implement organizational record keeping strategies, including maintaining and expanding the JMEM digital archive to support the operational and developmental objectives. The Database Engineer will ensure that the organizational data is accessible, documented, indexed, searchable, and properly protected for long-term and short-term archival efforts. Digital cataloguing and auditing are at the core of this position to protect over 50 years of data ranging from administrative to critical on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint services.

Core Responsibilities:

• Development and design a strategy, capability, repeatable process, catalogue, index, and enhance a digital data archival system for short to long-term data storage and retrieval.
• Operation of processes and procedures for data archive ingest and egress based on mission requirements and organizational requests.
• Auditing and record keeping of archival system level access and data actions.
• Coordination with the system administration, security, development, and testing teams for systems security, digital marking, maintenance, data ingest, and data egress.
• Track and manage Security Classification Guides (SCG) for data ingested and maintained.
• Index and catalogue large amounts of data for query, lookup, and tagging.
• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance a archival digital database system
• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance a simplified web-front system for the database archival system requests for ingest and requests for egress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Database administration or related field desired
• Deep working knowledge of database systems design, implementation, and maintenance is required
• Deep knowledge of implementation of records management and archival systems
• Proven experience of working within an information management, archive, or digital library setting
• Heavy working knowledge of DoD classification, dissemination, marking, retention, and distribution procedures
• Working knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation
• Working knowledge of establishing digital data archival and indexing solutions
• Experience coordinating with teams of teams with ingest and egress of information
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Excellent MS Office skills
• Ability to plan projects and manage competing priorities to meet assigned deadlines
