Job Description
Team: IT
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Platform Engineer in United Kingdom.
This role sits at the core of a modern, multi-cloud platform engineering organization, where you will help shape and evolve the foundational infrastructure powering enterprise-grade SaaS products. You will design and scale cloud-native platforms across AWS and GCP, ensuring high performance, reliability, and developer productivity at global scale. The position combines deep systems engineering with platform strategy, focusing on Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and automation-driven operations. You will work closely with product engineering, SRE, and security teams to build secure, scalable, and efficient shared services. Operating in a highly technical, distributed environment, you will have direct influence on architectural direction and platform standards. This is a high-impact role for an engineer who thrives on solving complex distributed systems challenges and enabling other teams to move faster.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the design, evolution, and optimization of a multi-cloud platform architecture across AWS and GCP, with a focus on Kubernetes, networking, and core infrastructure
- Build and standardize internal platform capabilities such as CI/CD pipelines, observability systems, service templates, and developer “golden paths” to improve engineering efficiency
- Develop and operate shared platform services using Go-based operators and infrastructure components such as Kafka, Neo4j, and other distributed systems
- Collaborate with product engineering, security, and SRE teams to ensure secure, compliant, and resilient system design across cloud environments
- Drive adoption of platform best practices across engineering teams, enabling consistent and scalable service development and deployment
- Improve system reliability and efficiency through automation, performance tuning, and cloud cost optimization initiatives
- Mentor engineers and contribute to raising the overall technical bar across the platform organization
- Strong production experience managing cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP
- Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes in production environments, including service mesh technologies such as Istio
- Deep understanding of cloud networking concepts including VPC design, routing, load balancing, WAFs, and network policies
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
- Strong software engineering skills with proficiency in Golang
- Experience supporting or operating stateful distributed systems such as Kafka, databases, or graph-based systems in cloud environments
- Solid understanding of cloud security principles including IAM and security group design
- Ability to analyze complex distributed systems and troubleshoot deeply technical infrastructure issues
- Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify and explain complex technical concepts
- Independent, proactive, and highly detail-oriented approach to engineering work
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- Competitive compensation with comprehensive benefits package
- Flexible working arrangements supporting remote and hybrid collaboration
- Health and wellness coverage designed to support employees and their families
- Flexible time off policies to support work-life balance and personal needs
- Strong focus on learning, development, and career growth opportunities
- Inclusive and diverse work environment with a strong culture of belonging
- Opportunity to work on large-scale, multi-cloud platform systems used globally
- High-impact engineering role with significant technical ownership and autonomy
