Staff Product Designer (UI/UX)
Job Description
Black Airplane is a digital product agency dedicated to solving complex business problems through innovative technology and design.
As a Staff Product Designer, you play a pivotal role in partnering directly with our clients to bring their vision to life. Utilizing your design expertise, you will push the creative bounds of technology by crafting tangible, UX-principled digital products.
This is a full-time, remote position (US only).
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Black Airplane clients to design brilliant digital products and experiences.
- Collaborate with the sales team, providing design estimates and insights to shape project direction from start to finish.
- Serve as the lead designer for clients, fostering trust and translating their vision into actionable design plans.
- Independently lead the design journey from ideation and gathering requirements to high-fidelity visualizations, ensuring alignment with client goals.
- Create essential design artifacts like wireframes and prototypes to articulate and test design decisions. Deliver compelling presentations of design artifacts, justifying design decisions, and addressing feedback.
- Champion an iterative approach, integrating stakeholder feedback to refine end-user digital solutions.
- Collaborate with multiple client stakeholders, Product Owners, and Engineers to deliver best-in-class design solutions.
- Prioritize tasks and manage concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery while upholding the highest quality.
- Work closely with developers to guarantee design fidelity during the implementation phase.
- Stay updated on design trends, bringing fresh insights to enhance our offerings.
- Offer mentorship to budding designers, nurturing their growth and skills.
- Engage with Design Leadership to refine Black Airplane's design methodologies and vision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience as a product designer in an agency or digital product setting.
- 3+ Years of experience with Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- You have impeccable presentation and client engagement skills.
- A rich portfolio illustrating a wide array of digital product design projects and your approach to problem-solving.
- You have top-notch communication skills, matching the tempo of stakeholder calls to ensure our clients feel known, heard, and respected while providing principled design recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience working on at least 2 shipped digital products (either web or mobile applications).
- Proficiency in breaking down and crafting solutions for intricate design challenges.
- Efficient time management skills, with a history of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
