Job Description

These revolutionary tools for DNA, RNA, and protein analysis are enabling rapid advances in disease research, drug development, and the development of molecular tests in the clinic.
We are seeking a Staff Product Manager, Infectious Disease Software to support the Company's efforts to create application-specific software solutions that translate complex genomic data into actionable information for clinicians. The individual will work cross-functionally to engage internal and external subject matter experts to define the necessary software solutions needed to support clinical applications in infectious disease testing, surveillance, and research. This crucial role partners with market-focused product managers, assay, and software development teams to bridge software customer needs to design inputs to directly support comprehensive solution development.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Formulate multi-application-use software strategy and drive execution of development technically and commercially
- Lead use case development, requirements gathering, requirements analysis and review meetings
- Represent the user needs and requirements of clinical customers in product development projects as a software marketing core team member
- Analyze and segment various global markets to determine compelling value propositions, competitive positioning, most desirable product attributes and trade-offs, pricing and sales forecasts
- Coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams to transform user needs into a complete description of software system requirements
- Work in a collaborative team environment: accurately and fully describe user needs to software UX, development, and testing team members
- Lead feedback sessions with subject matter experts, customers, and stakeholders.
- Develop detailed product specifications and business case metrics to enable product development to create purpose-built software solutions.
- Stay abreast of trends in user experience, technology, and design processes.
- Evangelize user experience and customer-centric design practices.
- Liaise with market development, field sales, regional marketing, and corporate marketing functional managers to support the commercialization of clinical solutions.
- Support the sales team and sales process as needed to implement the marketing strategy and promote products.
- Up to 20% travel may be required.

Preferred Educational Background:
- Bachelors or Masters in genetics, molecular genetics, infectious disease, virology, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, or related field.
- Advanced degree, PhD or MBA a plus.
Preferred Experiential Background:
- Previous experience with software development focused in a medical diagnostic setting.
- Minimum of 7 years as a software product manager, product owner or similar position supporting software customer/user needs, requirements, and/or products.
- Previous sales, marketing or business development experience preferred.
- Experience with software development life cycle and scrum methodologies
- Experience with sequencing technology or similar products strongly preferred.
- Experience in and knowledge of molecular biology, in vitro diagnostics, medical devices.
- Solid understanding of software development, architecture, user interfaces, and web development to understand and explain software technical considerations and trade-offs.
- Ability to build business cases with quantitative market analytics, revenue, NPV and profitability projections.
- Strong initiative, problem-solving ability and sense of ownership when driving projects to completion.
- Ability to develop support materials (internal and customer-facing) for workflows and applications, and build and deliver compelling, market focused presentations.
- Exceptional communications skills - with a proven ability to influence at all levels across a matrixed organization.
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-functional team, strong communication and organizational skills
The estimated base salary range for the Staff Product Manager role based in the United States of America is: $124,300 - $186,500. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
