Caribou Thunder is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Radar Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will apply your analytical skills to a wide range of systems engineering activities in support of a large National Defense program. Complete Description

As a Staff Radar Systems Engineer, you will play a vital role in planning and executing team projects, developing work packages, prototypes, and customer demonstrations.

  • Develop calibration test procedures for radar systems.
  • Execute tests and evaluate results to assess the effectiveness of calibrations.
  • Refine calibration concepts of operations (conops) and procedures.
  • Support the software team in implementing calibration algorithms.
  • Implement calibration algorithms in MATLAB, run simulations, and analyze the results.
  • Apply physics and engineering principles, mathematical analysis, and modeling and simulation techniques to support the development and analysis of advanced sensor systems, technologies, and algorithms.
  • Conduct research, analysis, evaluation, and development of technologies from industry, academia, and government organizations, including Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS), Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS), and open-source technologies.
  • Consider custom approaches to address challenging sensing problems.
  • Provide systems engineering recommendations and assist in planning and executing development efforts for complex sensor systems and systems of systems.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time, including up to 10% of international travel.

Minimum Requirements

  • Familiarity with microwave test equipment, such as Vector Network Analyzers (VNA) and signal generators.
  • Experience using requirements management tools like DOORS.
  • Experience using discrepancy management tools like Jira, Bugzilla, etc.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++, and Fortran.
  • Substantial domain expertise and extensive experience in multiple areas, including:
    • Systems Engineering.
    • Radar principles.
    • Radar system modeling, simulation, and performance analysis.
    • Radar waveforms and digital signal processing (DSP) methods.
    • Radar imaging and processing techniques.
    • Radar antenna and Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) system principles, digital beamforming, and array processing.
    • Electronic Protection (EP) and clutter mitigation principles.
    • Object detection, tracking, classification, and related algorithms.
    • Algorithm development and testing.
    • High-Performance Computing (HPC) and parallelization techniques.
    • Multi-static radar principles.
    • Business development.
    • Innovative technology concept development.
