Location: This position is based in our Campbell, California offices. This position is on site and full time and requires some travel

What You’ll Do

As a Staff R&D Engineer, you will be responsible for conceptualization, design, development, and manufacturability of next-generation neurovascular catheters to treat stroke. As the R&D lead on the project team, you will have the technical depth to design innovative new products, the ability to work cross functionally, and the desire to lead and mentor supporting R&D engineers. Top candidates have an entrepreneurial spirit, a strong foundation in medical device development, the persistence to succeed in a start-up environment, and the ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimal direction and supervision. Ultimately, your catheters will be the next products used by physicians to save the lives of stroke patients.

  • Lead the technical design and development of next generation catheters from early prototyping to manufacturing transfer, and drive innovation and ensure products achieve best-in-class performance while promoting manufacturability and meeting cost targets.
  • Lead design-focused risk analysis activities, product verification and validation test planning, and oversee product test development and execution Create test protocols and develop new test methods as needed for Design Verification, Design Validation, risk mitigation, and prototype evaluations
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert to the project team and deploy supporting R&D engineering resources to meet project milestones
  • Work directly with customer representatives, marketing, physicians, pre-clinical engineering, and regulatory affairs to understand user interactions, identify product opportunities, and develop comprehensive product requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • BS in Engineering or related discipline and 8+ years of related experience; or MS in Engineering with 6+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience in the medical device or related regulated industry
  • 6+ years previous experience developing flexible medical device instruments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of braiding, laminating, coiling, and laser cutting design and process constraints
  • Experience leading a product through all phases of the product development lifecycle from proof of concept through manufacturing transfer.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally

Salary Range: $150,000 - 160,000 annually
