Staff Software Developer 2

ARA is offering experienced software developers full-time employment opportunities to advance critical software technologies that will help transportation infrastructure perform better and last longer. This position is available in our Champaign, IL office; remote work opportunities may be available for the right candidate.

Our developers maintain existing enterprise applications and develop new systems to solve problems and improve the operations of transportation systems (road, rail, and air) throughout North America. Work is varied and may include:

• Development of new applications using desktop, mobile, and/or web-based approaches
• Support of existing applications
• Expansion and redesign of systems

As part of these efforts, you will work directly with subject matter experts such as civil engineers, transportation planners, equipment manufacturers, and clients at public transportation agencies to design applications that address the critical needs of these transportation systems. We use the best technology to address each specific project, but we typically use C#.NET and Blazor.

What you will do as a staff software developer:

• Full stack application development
• Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, and software review
• Object-oriented design and analysis (OOD and OOA)
• Software testing and quality assurance
• Support, maintain, and document software functionality
• Software support/bug fixes

Staff software developer 2 education and experience requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years software development experience in one or more of the following: C#, front end web development (VueJS, React, etc.), or NodeJS; graduate/academic research work may be considered, if directly applicable
• Experience producing statistical sampling engines
• Must be able to perform tasks independently and participate in the design of new features, systems, and software packages
• Experience with web development, Azure DevOps, and/or JavaScript development preferred
• Experience producing software related to pavement design and engineering preferred
