Your Responsibilities
As the Staff Software Engineer for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group in Waterloo, Iowa, Urbandale, Iowa, Silvis, Illinois, or remote, you will be leading and inspiring embedded software development teams that deliver operator controls solutions for Ag customers. These customers rely on these heavily utilized, intuitive controls to provide the ease of productivity every day for their equipment. • Create, drive, and deliver common embedded software architecture for John Deere Operator Station
• Collaborate and partner with Vehicle System Engineers, Hardware Architects, Product Owners, and Developers to build solutions that further the engineering roadmap of the product
• Establish and maintain best practices of embedded software solutions for Operator Stations
• Lead, maintain, and refine the development backlog activities for the Operator Station TDP/ISDP software team
• Manage the Operator Station Interface Change Control process
• Be a technical coach that pairs, mentors, and coaches team members within the Operator Station team to improve the technology proficiency of the team

What Skills You Need

• 6 or more years of software development within embedded systems and/or larger system of systems and experience within modern software architecture.
• Experience with Agile software development processes
• Expert in troubleshooting embedded software issues
• Expert in working with cross-functional teams
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills

What Makes You Stand Out

• Experience with automotive/off-road based ethernet, CAN, and LIN communication protocols
• Experience with test driven development and/or MBSD simulation experience
• Experience with embedded software continuous integration practices and tools
• Systems engineering experience such as authoring requirements or creation of systems engineering artifacts
• Expert knowledge on software architecture and/or system design
• Demonstrated competency in communicating and influencing in a large organization
• Focus and passion for developing innovative technical solutions to solve customer problems
• Background with John Deere products, farming practices and/or farm equipment operation

Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
