Staff Software Engineer

Did you know, however, that in hospitals across the country, any doctor, any nurse, or any person from any department with computer access can easily review your healthcare information? I know what you're thinking, and you're correct. Yes, that is a privacy violation; and there were 40 million of these breaches in 2020 alone. Crazy, right? This is the problem smart engineers can solve.  

The Protenus Healthcare Compliance Analytics platform is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that ingests robust, unique data feeds to provide visibility into potential patterns of suspicious behavior that may otherwise go unnoticed. Our AI and advanced analytics empowers subject matter experts to mitigate and ultimately reduce organizational risk  — whether it's an employee improperly accessing patient records, or a clinician diverting medications — in an efficient, accurate and scalable manner.

The Protenus engineering team is looking to welcome a new Staff Software Engineer onto our team to help us do this important work. If the opportunity to thwart these bad actors doesn’t excite you, maybe the opportunity to serve on a team filled with other engineers who do different work than you, will do the trick. To be more specific, we’re looking for: 

1. An experienced Staff Software Engineer to help with backend development with a little focus on the frontend as well. Degrees don't matter to us, only that you know how to achieve desired results. 
2. A natural leader and teacher who enjoys learning from others as much as they enjoy teaching others what they know. 
3. Someone Resourceful and isn't married to one technology or another, but instead knows which tools in your toolbox will get you the result you’re looking for in the quickest time, with the least amount of friction.
4. A lifelong learner and enjoys researching new technologies and trying our new ideas when you can.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience designing, building, testing and implementing high quality applications that meet business outcomes including writing and maintaining automated integration and unit test suites.
• Experience with Java &/or Scala
• Strong problem solving, priority setting, multi-tasking, and analytical skills.
• A passion for collaboration and a desire to learn from team members of all disciplines and experiences.
• A love of finding simple, elegant solutions to complicated problems. 
• Experience working in an Agile environment

We made the decision to be a "virtual first" organization in early 2021. Even after COVID is a thing of the past, we will remain virtual first.
