The Opportunity
DAT is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Denver CO.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for working with other Staff engineers in setting a new direction for frontend software development at DAT. The initial effort will be focused on helping the continued efforts of migrating users from legacy systems to the DAT One Web user experience, but will eventually include supporting broader transformation within the company.
What You’ll Do
- A balanced blend of hands on development, technical leadership, and mentoring
- Work with other technical leaders, own, and help drive change across shared Front-End and NodeJS/GraphQL API repositories through the DAT Development Community of Practice
- Work with a team to continue to migrate users to DAT’s core search business
- Mentor software engineers utilizing proven design patterns and your experience building modern enterprise software
- Work in an AWS environment for both prototyping of new technologies and deploying both front-end user experiences and NodeJS APIs using existing CI/CD systems with GitHub Actions
- Assist in the design of new APIs in both REST and GraphQL
- Assist with the design and implementation of fully automated test infrastructure
- Work with the product and UX organizations in establishing business requirements
The Skills and Experience You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s or other Technical Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Experience developing in both React and Angular
- Deep understanding of JavaScript and Typescript
- Deep understanding of GraphQL and Apollo technologies
- Deep understanding of both AWS server-based and serverless (AWS Lambda / AWS Step Functions) technologies.
- Deep understanding of data management for frontend software
- Experience giving technical leadership to teams solving challenging problems
- Be able to work on large tasks with minimal, if any, day to day oversight
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Previous hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, such as AWS or Azure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $150,000.00 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
