The Orchestration Team at Upbound is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to help us build the Universal Cloud Platform. Together we’re building the core of UCP that will reliably support thousands of Crossplane-based control planes, while also adding features like resource metering, billing, disaster recovery, policy management, identity provider integration, and much more. This is a unique opportunity to shape the architecture and capabilities of UCP.

Your collaborative nature combined with an interest in improving and growing others will help the team continue developing their capabilities and skills.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Build Upbound’s Universal Cloud Platform.
- Contribute to Upbound’s open-source projects, especially Crossplane.
- Taking ownership of features in high demand by Upbound’s customers, delivering new functionality that delights and amazes users.
- Lead development of the resource metering and billing system for Upbound’s Universal Cloud Platform.
- Collaborate through thoughtful and thorough design documents for new initiatives.
- Support the full project lifecycle for highly scalable and reliable services running in a cloud environment – discovery, analysis, architecture, design, review, documentation, building, migration, automation, deployment, production-readiness, and support.
- Write and maintain Go code that interfaces with the Kubernetes API, such as operators, controllers, add-ons, etc.
- Deploying and managing our Kubernetes services with GitOps.
- Authoring documentation, user guides, and blog posts to support and promote new features that you release.
- Participating in on-call to support Upbound Cloud Platform.
