About the Job 

We're looking for an experienced Staff Back End engineer to build features, and improve the performance and reliability of our systems as we rapidly scale our product and organization. You will have the unique career opportunity to work with talented engineers across different countries, collaborating on and solving exciting problems that will disrupt the e-commerce industry in Egypt.  As a staff engineer you will own the architecture  of our web based applications. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Help to define and improve our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. 

• You'll brainstorm with Product Managers, Designers, and Frontend Engineering to conceptualize and build new features for scaling product and userbase. 

• You’ll actively own features and define their long-term health, while also improving the health of surrounding systems.

• You will help steer the direction of the back end team, by setting the team's processes and procedures. 

• You will be actively involved in growing your team, by participating in hiring and recruitment activities. 

• You will coach and mentor members of your team, provide technical guidance, set standards and advocate for those standards through code reviews. 

• You'll spend part of your time on code development. 

About You:

Must have:

• More than 7 years of backend development experience

• Extensive experience in developing and deploying microservice architectures

• Experience in cloud deployments (AWS/GCP/Azure)

• Experience in microservice best practices (canary, monitoring, SRE)

• Experience with relational and non relational databases

• Experience in Spring, Java and NodeJS

• Automated testing mindset

• Experience with Git and it’s best practices

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

• Ability to prioritize and help design features

• Web based security (JWT/OAuth 2)

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of underlying infrastructure technologies; monitoring, logging, relational and non relational databases

• Extensive experience with AWS

• Experience with setup and management of CI/CD pipelines

• Frontend development experience
