OVERVIEW & IMPACT:

Samsung is looking for C++ developers experienced with distributed clusters and the cloud.  The Samsung Data Platform (SDP) is a distributed, scale-out data storage product for workloads that utilize unstructured data that we are evolving to support cloud scale deployments. We are looking for experienced developers with expertise in engineering distributed applications that are deployed in the public or private cloud, or on-premise virtualization platforms

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help lead the design and evolution of SDP’s cloud-hosted storage system
• Research, prototype and implement ways to deal with cloud scale deployments
• Debug and enhance existing functionality
• Help troubleshoot and fix issues

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:

• BS/MS Computer Science or equivalent with a minimum of 7 years of experience
• Practical experience developing scalable, distributed, cloud-hosted applications
• Experience integrating applications with public cloud providers APIs and infrastructure (AWS, Google, Azure)
• Experience developing software that users are successfully running in production
• Experience with the cycle of design, development and customer release
• Expert programming skills with C++14 (or later) for Linux applications
• Deep understanding of multi-threaded application design, programming and debugging
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a small team with limited oversight
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience investigating tradeoffs to identify performance bottlenecks and develop related optimizations
• Experience developing datacenter or enterprise storage software
• Knowledge of file system internals (e.g. ext4, btrfs, f2fs)
• Understanding of ceph, rocksdb, mongodb, or aerospike
• Experience with gcc, git, jira, confluence
• Experience developing with open source libraries, such as folly, boost or Intel TBB
