Staff Software Engineer - Data Products

• Lead E2E development of full-stack data applications, tooling, and frameworks, using modern technologies such as BigQuery, Scylla, Apache Beam, Pub/Sub, and Airflow.
• Collaborate with leadership and senior engineers across the team to define the technical vision and build on the technical roadmap for data products.
• Care deeply about business outcomes and constraints and keep them in mind as they solve hard, unbounded problems
• Working with other Staff Engineers to make decisions for the organization and engineering function as a whole.
• Coach and mentor the next generation of technical leaders at Discord.

• You have 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• You have strong communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally.
• You have a strong product sense, maintain a high degree of empathy for your internal and external users and seek feedback from them about your work
• You approach problems with first principles. You are comfortable with ambiguity and get excited about working collaboratively to figure out solutions to complex problems, and then executing on them.
• You have helped define the architecture, tooling, and strategy for a large-scale data processing system and tools.
• You keep up with the industry trends and can assess new technologies that can help us better solve problems.

• Experience working with very high scale data infrastructure and toolings
• Experience with data products on Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, or Airflow
• Full-stack development or product engineering experience
