TThe e-commerce experience has been static for 20+ years and is one of the largest opportunities for disruption in the startup space today. Livestream shopping is a $300B GMV market in China and has grown 100% YoY. Retail is a $5T market opportunity!

The Discovery team works on making sure every Whatnot user is matched with the right content to improve relevance, experience, retention, and revenue. As a member of the early Discovery team, you will have the opportunity to build systems and platforms that drive over 100MM GMV from scratch. We look for engineers with great product instincts who can own whole projects from start to finish.

The software team has a lot of individual responsibility and many more freedoms, so we need to hire great people we can trust. Your ability to make good trade-offs and exercise good judgment is essential to us.

• 6 years of software engineering experience
• Prior experience as a Staff Software Engineer or a more senior engineering role
• Mastery of at least one language (we primarily use Python, Elixir, JavaScript, and are open to others)
• Expert at data architecture
• Excellent product instincts. You first think about users rather than the best technical solution
• You are known for shipping products and features lightning-fast
• You’re an excellent problem solver and don’t need to be told exactly what to do.
• Consistent track record of delivering features
• Product Management experience.
• AWS/DevOps experience
• Startup experience at a high-growth company
