Staff Software Engineer, Fraud

• Create a long term technical vision for the department, and identify paths to deliver value in shorter term phases
• Develop scalable and reliable services
• Make hands-on contributions to deliver important projects that bring value to users and our business
• Lead by example to uphold high engineering standards, and improve quality and engineering efficiency across Discord
• Collaborate with partners across the organization including teams across engineering, product, machine learning, design, infrastructure, and operations
• Mentor engineers in their technical careers to help them grow

• 7+ years of experience building scalable backend or real-time data systems
• Experience working on, and deploying, large-scale systems in Python, Rust, Go, or other similar languages
• Experience working in undefined environments. You get excited about creating solutions to complex problems and implementing them.
• Experience approaching problems using fundamentals and using a data-driven approach to make decisions
• Experience with A/B testing and experimentation platforms
• A desire to keep up with the industry trends and assess new technologies that could benefit the business

• Prior experience working in the fraud domain
• Experience integrating with machine learning solutions and working with machine learning teams
• Experience with real-time streaming data systems like Kafka or Pub/Sub
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with data warehouses like Druid, BigQuery, and Redshift
• Full-stack development or product engineering experience
