Bookings Orchestration Engineering

Bookings are at the core of the Airbnb marketplace that builds and enables connection between our Guests & Hosts. The Bookings Orchestration team is a high-impact group that owns the system which orchestrates all orders at Airbnb, including physical stays and virtual experiences.  We’re currently focused on building the next generation of Airbnb’s order orchestration system, which will enable innovative checkout and post-bookings experiences for our users.  

HotelTonight Engineering

Hotels at Airbnb?  You heard that right!  Launched in 2011 and acquired by Airbnb in 2019,  HotelTonight is a stand-alone hotel-booking service focused on making last minute trips easy and fun, offering travelers seamless booking and exceptional deals at top hotels. Through features such as Daily Drop (personalized daily hotel deals), we innovate how travelers can plan less and live more, while providing hotels new ways to sell inventory.  We’re building a next generation Hospitality & Booking Platform for HotelTonight that our guests and hotel partners will love.  If you want a unique opportunity to be a part of a fun, entrepreneurial, start-up team where you can have outsized impact, all while being under the Airbnb umbrella, this team is for you.

Pricing Engineering

Pricing Engineering at Airbnb plays the critical role in building all of the pricing tools used by our Hosts and Guests.  As an Airbnb Host, this means you can manage your listing price, add promotions, manage fees, and as a Airbnb Guest, this allows for pricing transparency before you book a rental or Airbnb experience. We’re currently revamping Airbnb’s Pricing Platform as a top priority on our 2023 roadmap, and our goal is to improve scalability and reliability in order to drive pricing transparency across global regions.  As a Staff Engineer in this org, you’d have the ability to influence and lead up to 20-30 engineers depending on the stage of our roadmap.

• Lead design & development of highly reliable, performant, and scalable distributed systems.
• Help solve large, open-ended, and sometimes ambiguous foundational technical problems.
• Mentor, advocate, and support the career growth of other individual contributors.
• Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional partners across teams and orgs, to align on long-term technical solutions.
• Proactively grow the knowledge of cutting edge technical practices and trends involving workflow orchestration systems.

• 9+ years of experience developing backend distributed systems at scale, preferably in Java or Kotlin.
• Deep experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications.
• Technical leadership experience and strong communication skills with ability to lead and influence other experienced engineers.
• Experience shipping several large scale projects with multiple dependencies across teams. 
• You possess a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $190,000.00 and $245,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Airbnb,Inc. can employ in  states where we have registered entities. Currently, employees can not be located in: Alaska, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Delaware and Rhode Island.
