Staff Software Engineer - Web

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the MyFitnessPal Web Engineering team. Our users rely on MyFitnessPal to power their health and fitness journeys every day. As a member of our MyFitnessPal Engineering team, you’ll have the opportunity to positively impact those users with your expertise in the backend systems that drive the MyFitnessPal ecosystem. We are building the next generation React/Next web client to enhance the MyFitnessPal experience for over 130 million people worldwide, including ourselves!

• Promote growth of teammates through mentorship and coaching
• Help envision and build the next generation MFP web client using modern tools and frameworks (React.js/Next.js/Node.js/Webpack)
• Own projects from start to finish, collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the organization
• Implement designs and user-facing features on the web
• Guide the team through migration and maintenance in the current Ruby on Rails codebase

• Advanced experience writing JavaScript applications using ES6 standards and React.js
• Experience with Next.js framework and server-side rendering
• Comfortable using CSS in JS to create responsive, mobile first websites and applications
• 6+ years of development of complex web apps with Ruby on Rails
• Performance tuning applications through testing, monitoring and profiling
• Deployment of services and applications in a containerized environment like kubernetes
• Familiarity with AWS and/or other cloud computing platforms
• Advanced knowledge of working with REST APIs
