Staff Structural analysis engineer

We are looking for a Staff Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies. This role will report to Director, Modeling and based in San Jose, CA

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide structural analysis and evaluation to solve challenging design problems related to high temperature Fuel Cells, at unit cell level as well as stacks & enclosures
• Develop models for cell structural behavior, utilize FEA structural analysis code along with hand calculations based on first principles for design improvement and reliability
• Participate in product development from concept phase to production
• Validation of modeling and simulation results with testing and field data
• Identify possible failure modes and mechanisms and propose design changes to address the same
• Interface with cross functional team, create reports and present modeling results on a regular basis

Skills and Experience:

• MS in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with background in Finite Element Analysis
• Strong understanding of the fundamentals of strength of materials
• Extensive experience of 2-5 years in stress analysis & meshing packages, preferably in Abaqus and Hypermesh respectively
• Experience performing finite element structural analysis using materials with non-linear stress/strain relationships, hyper-elastic materials, isotropic/orthotropic/anisotropic materials and springs
• Skills in handling complex 3-D geometry, grid generation, and post-processing
• High temperature modeling experience is a plus
• Understanding of experimental methods and testing is highly desirable
• Strong drive learn new application areas and capable of modeling complex simulations and multi-disciplinary systems
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to details
• Ability to work collaboratively with scientists/engineers of various disciplines
• Excellent communication skills- both written and verbal

Salary Ranges:

$116,400.00 - $167,600.00
