Staff UI Engineer - Web Engineering / Marketing
The Web Engineering team works collaboratively with Fastly’s marketing, product and engineering organizations to share Fastly’s story and value across our global marketing properties including Fastly.com, docs.fastly.com, and developer.fastly.com. As Staff Software Engineer, UI, you will work on a small and mighty team building engaging web based experiences and driving improvements to our sites. You will hone your skills, leverage your knowledge, and experiment creatively with the incredible breadth of Fastly’s products.
What You'll Do
- You will be responsible for the long-term maintenance and strategic planning for a performant, scalable marketing site
- You will provide technical leadership; identifying and implementing improvements in code and process, leading technical design and development of new features, identifying actionable improvements for performance gains, working collaboratively with the manager to scope technical requirements
- You will develop new features from whiteboard through to production
- You will mentor and coach teammates
Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours, and may also require participation in on-call support rotation as needed.
What We're Looking For
- You have 6+ years of software development experience building robust UX using React, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
- You have 2+ years of experience coaching and mentoring teammates
- Experience with automated testing of JavaScript applications
- Experience monitoring and improving site performance
- You have experience with static site generators and headless CMS systems
- We use Gatsby and Contentful
- Experience with developing optimized CI/CD pipelines and site infrastructure
We'll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:
- Experience working with distributed development teams
- Experience with thoughtful code review to up level more junior developers in a hybrid environment
- Experience with developing & maintaining design systems
- Experience with Sketch or Figma
- Experience with multilingual sites
- Familiarity with Varnish (VCL) / Compute@Edge
Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements
This position will be based out of one of Fastly’s offices, preferably in Denver, CO or San Francisco, CA.
Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.
This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.
Salary
The estimated salary range for this position is $181,220 to $226,520.
Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
