About the jobThis position is needed to add to the technical leadership team of UX Infrastructure. A platform team that builds a best-in-class, usable, and inclusive-by-default UX platform, Paste, that helps designers and developers build sophisticated user experiences. UX Infrastructure is part of the central hub of the User Experience organization, and this role is crucial in continuing our mission as trusted, technical leaders within Twilio R&D.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you’ll:
- Partner with Engineering and Design teams to build new features and maintain existing ones for our Design System.Â
- Implement performance optimizations, and improve upon the infrastructure, tooling, testing, and delivery strategies that give Twilio the confidence to continuously deploy the highest quality software.
- Lead design and engineering reviews for Design System and Platform features.
- Write technical blueprints, design documents and architectural decisions that will inform best practices for Twilio Front End Engineering.
- Mentor and develop the careers of engineers around you.

Required:
- Highly proficient at developing enterprise-scale User Interfaces, using a component-based approach. We use React and write TypeScript, but familiarity with other component-based UI libraries is welcome.Â
- Expert knowledge of creating accessible UI components and architecting accessible software interfaces. Values all users’ experiences and keeps accessibility and inclusivity at the forefront of all decision-making.
- Extensive experience in designing maintainable and extensible APIs for components that are designed to be used across many organizations.
- Experience working on large-scale design systems and component libraries in their recent past.
- Passionate about providing mentorship and support to early-in-career software engineers, and has experience communicating technical concepts in a clear way.
Desired:
- Knowledge of supporting international, localized web based user interfaces.
- Proficient at performance profiling and performance optimization techniques, specifically with React. Has experience with monitoring performance and taking action to improve it.
- Comfortable with JavaScript infrastructure, tooling, CI/CD and the latest monorepo tooling.
LocationÂ
Remote US; This position is a remote role but is NOT eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.
No travel requirements are anticipated.

- The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is 160,080 - 200,100.Â
- Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
