Job Description

General Summary
The Stage Systems Administrator is responsible for managing LAIKA’s Stop Motion stage technology equipment and software used for camera capture. This position works collaboratively with Artists and Technicians to ensure the accuracy, integrity and reliability of imagery captured on set.

Job Functions

  • Support the Camera, Animation and Production crews in maintaining the capture systems and associated equipment on stage from monitoring systems and network resources to maintaining regular flow of data from capture systems and ensuring data integrity.
  • Maintain color calibration of cameras and displays.
  • Assemble and maintain Virtual Production Systems and Stage technology equipment.
  • Purchase and expense stage items and assist the Technology Operations Manager with planning large equipment purchases.
  • Perform capture system backups and related data protection tasks.
  • Document system failures and work with Production Technology teams to resolve issues.
  • Write and maintain workflow documentation, procedures and checklists.
  • Partner with key personnel on R&D of new image capture technologies and workflows.
  • Assist with data wrangling of stop motion imagery and general Technology support as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related systems administration or other technology support experience required.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical problems on MacOS and iOS/iPadOS as well as experience with Unix shells, CLI tools and package management, folder structures, file permissions, and MDM administration.
  • Knowledge of basic photography concepts and color management, including DSLR/mirrorless cameras.
  • Experience with the Dragonframe animation software, preferred.
  • Experience with Autodesk ShotGrid and/or other database systems, required.
  • Experience with Virtual Production, including Unreal Engine and Perforce.
  • Proficient with hand tools, well organized with strong planning, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Film/stage and Data wrangling experience, preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., data centers and closets).
  • Calm and personable under pressure.
