Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a self-starter and experienced business development leader to drive growth for our Southern Texas Transportation business. This external facing leader will represent AECOM in the marketplace and oversee business development, sales, and strategy for all sectors of transportation including Highways & Bridges, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Transit & Rail, Aviation, and Ports & Marine.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

The candidate will need to be a growth minded leader who can work collaboratively with others senior leadership and mentor staff in a fast pace setting to support business development, marketing and communications, capture management, and strategy. The ideal person must be able to verbally and visually communicate their ideas clearly and convincingly to peers and senior leadership.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures unflinching customer focus. The successful candidate will demonstrate deep customer insight, ensure a client driven culture, spearhead and support market-focused solutions.
  • Provide leadership in recruiting and retaining top talent to Southern Texas
  • In collaboration with senior leadership, develop and own the long-term vision for sustained growth of AECOM's transportation business in Southern Texas
  • Collaborate with senior leadership team in the US West Transportation on driving strategic growth initiatives throughout the region
  • Work with the US West Transportation growth team in developing annual targets and goals for the fiscal year, and own the Awards and Bookings KPIs
  • Influences and supports the Regional Market Sector Leaders (MSLs) to achieve their sales and bookings performance targets
  • Oversee the capture process for key pursuits in Southern Texas to ensure best practices are being adhered to, and continuously improve capture results
  • Oversee the client account management program for key clients in Southern Texas to ensure active management
  • Collaborate with local divisional leadership across all markets and organize civic engagement activities
  • Manage Southern Texas conference and meeting sponsorships, and attend as senior leader representing AECOM
  • Be responsible for holding regular Southern Texas business development meetings with all relevant stakeholders and ensuring frequent and regular communication
  • Potential for operations responsibility for the transportation group in Southern Texas which includes staffing, hiring, project performance, quality and safety.
  • Potential to be project manager and OIC on key projects in the South Texas market
Minimum Requirements
  • 12 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience, including 4 years of leadership
  • Experience in business development, and strong existing relationships with, transportation agencies in Southern Texas
  • Existing relationships within the transportation community in Southern Texas, and active involvement in local professional organizations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required in planning, engineering, architecture, or a related field + 15 years relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of best practices in capture process for professional services
  • Demonstrated knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce
  • Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate problems clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff
  • Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality
Key Performance Indicators: Sales, bookings, book-to-burn, backlog growth, SNB conversion, market share, BD ROI, client/account NSR, client satisfaction, industry leadership, hiring and staff retention. Potential for operations responsibility which would include contribution margin, revenue earned, hiring and staff retention, safety and ED&I.
