HCVT operates under a hybrid working model. Effective Jan 1, 2024, employees are expected to work at their assigned office a minimum of two days per week. In the event that this is not geographically reasonable, you may work in the office closest to your home. Additionally, we expect employees to participate in required firm events/meeting (e.g., trainings, team bonding, client meetings, etc.)
A paraprofessional in the State and Local Tax practice will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Organize, manage, and facilitate the team’s deliverables associated with state tax accounts, payments, and refunds
- Complete various state Tax Withholding forms in collaboration with the internal team and the Client’s Treasury team
- Obtain tax attribute information related to state tax accounts and federal Employer Identification Numbers both online and via telephone
- Complete and file various tax election forms under guidance from HCVT tax managers
- Enter tax documentation notes and ensure the completeness of our tax notice database software
- Prepare check requests and manage the recording of existing payments and refunds on the internal network drive
- Handle records management
- Process and manage incoming and outgoing mail
- Coordinate and schedule conference calls
- Support services for ad hoc projects as required
- Serve as a liaison with the client’s internal legal department for document requests and related projects
- Assist the HCVT engagement team in monitoring tax calendar filing and payment due dates
- Maintain various informational databases and workflow tools

To be successful, these are the skills and experience you will need:
- Possess very strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment and discretion
- Intellectual curiosity and a high degree of self-motivation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- A college degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Previous experience in a tax department is preferred but not essential
This salary range is specific to the state(s) listed and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill set and education; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000.
