Overview
The National Information Center (NIC) staff perform analysis and publication of structure data, updating and notifying stakeholders of structure changes which can include mergers, failures, openings, closings, charter conversions, name and location changes, acquisitions, divestitures and liquidations. The entities that the unit oversees include all Seventh District depository institutions, bank holding companies (BHC), savings and loan holding companies (SLHC), nonbank subsidiaries, foreign banking organizations (FBO) and branches.
As a Statistical Reports Analyst-Structure Reports, you will participate in activities to ensure operational processing and collection of structure reports from institutions and perform analysis on data collected to ensure the highest quality. You will provide analytical assistance for structure reporting and regulatory material and communication with key contacts in multiple departments and at other Reserves Banks and Regulatory agencies. Problems are solved with technical, analytical, and tactical decision-making skills using input from multiple internal and external stakeholders. You will also communicate with essential contacts within the operations areas, and at other Reserve Banks and Regulatory agencies and financial institutions. You will report to the Manager and will have no direct reports.
Your Responsibilities:
Data Collection:
- You will ensure the integrity, and accuracy of institutions' prepared structure reports with a focus on compliance with deadlines and reporting requirements; this includes working in a team environment to oversee high volume of data flows
- Maintain essential records on the structure data and activities of complex financial institutions, bank holding companies, and nonbank subsidiaries to help develop economic policy, conduct bank supervision and regulation activities, and provide financial services
- Run queries to ensure data accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements and have the initiative to explore efficiencies and business solutions surrounding our data flows with minimal oversight
- Increase knowledge of current trend and regulatory actions in the financial service industry by reading and researching regulatory updates and press releases.
Data Analysis:
- You will analyze reports for edit failures, data anomalies, or discrepancies; follow guidelines in support and determination of the safety and soundness of banking organizations, monetary policy, and reserve bank operations
- Perform analysis on structure data and financial reports for compliance with Federal Reserve policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements
- Evaluate data and interpret principles and regulations to resolve accuracy and conformity issues with banking organizations to ensure data integrity.
- Think critically and exercise qualitative data analysis skillsets to uncover data quality issues across institutions and apply toward internal process efficiencies
- Confidently communicate structure concepts to internal and external stakeholders, including counseling institutions on reporting requirements and instructions.
Policy Implementation:
- Understand Federal Reserve policies and regulatory requirements
- You will contribute to the preparation of official memos, advanced data analysis reports, comments to proposed reporting and regulatory changes, and processing procedures
- Help test enhancements to system applications and contribute to other special projects related to the structure of financial and non-financial institutions.
- Create innovative solutions to implement process and data quality improvements, and explore automation opportunities through collaboration
System Projects and Work Groups:
- You will participate in and collaborate with local and System colleagues on Business Unit/Bank projects and System wide business line strategic workgroups
Your Background
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, or related field or equivalent experience
- 3 to 5 years of related work experience
- Experience performing qualitative and quantitative analysis and desire to design new analytical tools and methods
- Ability to perform query writing, data visualizations, and provide key insights
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with SQL, Tableau, VBA, and some Python
