Designs and develops data storage systems, processes and enhancements for company's complex high traffic, business critical internet site communications and/or network-based (cloud) product systems. Leads the design of enterprise storage environments, including enterprise storage arrays, fiber channel switches and Network Attached Storage (NAS) physical and virtual tape devices. Develops solutions and processes for reliable and stable data storage management, security, backup, restoration, archiving and replication. Assists with the implementation of new or additional storage technology to improve infrastructure service locally and remotely.
Additional Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Architect, plan, design and engineer storage solutions (predominantly EMC) Storage includes backup, replication and archiving technologies
  • Participate in the development of high availability and Disaster Recovery application architecture for applications in coordination with application and data base experts
  • Provision storage based on standardized procedures as outlined by best practices (manufacturer, industry)
  • Actively contribute to the configuration, layout and performance tuning of storage infrastructure
  • Assist management with planning by providing performance and capacity metrics
  • Monitor system logs and activity on all servers and devices
  • Transfer knowledge to implementation and operations staff
  • May lead or guide the work of other staff engaged in similar functions
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings
  • Participate in rotating 24x7 "on call" support coverage for data center related issues
  • Responsible for ensuring that all security, availability, confidentiality and privacy polic ies and controls are adhered to
  • Work in conjunction with Systems Administrators in establishing data security access right

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • 10 + years of related experience in Storage Administration
  • Advanced Knowledge of EMC VPLEX
  • Advanced Knowledge of EMC Recovery Point
  • Advanced Knowledge of EMC XtremIO line of storage arrays
  • Establish plans (tools, techniques & practices) to monitor and manage storage systems
  • Define practices to ensure efficient use of storage technologies
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP stacks and their functionality
  • Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2003/2008/2012
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting and design of VMware data center environment
  • Knowledge on VMware (Certified Professional), Windows, Linux and DataDomain is a strong plus
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
  • Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information
  • Certifications or an interest in pursuing certification is a plus.
