Strategic Campaigns and Pursuits' (SCP's) primary goal is to support HDR in winning work. We proactively partner with local and area teams on large campaigns and strategic pursuit opportunities to gain market share and to elevate HDR's stature in the industry. A pursuit refers to a tailored marketing effort aimed at winning new business and/ or maintaining existing client relationships for HDR. SCP exists to support strategic pursuit opportunities, corporate development initiatives and other Business priorities. SCP's support results in increased market share and elevates HDR's stature in the industry, while fully supporting our clients.

The SCP Manager is the section manager for a unified team focused on winning HDR's largest or most strategic pursuit projects. They will oversee pursuit management, coordination, and pursuit design professionals. As section manager, they will partner with all HDR's Business Groups (BGs) to collaborate, identify, facilitate, and connect teams to manage or support campaigns and strategic pursuits.

The SCP Manager will also support HDR's Marketing/Business Development Training Program, campaigns, and corporate initiatives. This includes the cross-business group (BGX) initiative that aims to build a strategy that captures more market share in focused areas by leveraging the combined capabilities of HDR.

Must have effective communication skills, capability of collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, and ability to motivate others. Position requires up to 50% travel. The Section Manager reports to the Director of Corporate Marketing & Communications.

Job Responsibilities

Section Manager Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for section performance including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control, and marketing support.

• Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities.

• Take administrative responsibility for section staff and service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections, offices, and teams.

• Be involved in marketing planning, proposals, training, and interviews.

• Be directly involved with internal clients in marketing, project production and related issues.

• See that work is planned, organized, controlled, and evaluated through initiative-taking project management.

• Implement, monitor, and support company policies.

• Select, train, develop and manage personnel.

• Manage and develop multidiscipline marketing, design, and support teams.

• Collaborate with directors, management, and marketing staff on marketing and production efforts.

• Perform other duties as needed.

Cross-Business Group (BGX) Responsibilities

• Partner with BGX Strategic Program Leader to facilitate, identify resources, and host/foster connection points.

• Overall BGX program/campaign coordination and collaborative leadership

• As needed, function as a Program Leader/Facilitator

• Track opportunities and related pursuit efforts.

• Partner with BGX Leadership on the development of annual alignment meeting proce

• Identify and evaluate process enhancements, resource needs, and reporting preferences.

Additional Responsibilities

• Partner with BG Leadership including Client Development Directors, Business Development Directors, and Strategic Pursuit Leader

• Maintain Strategic Campaigns and Pursuits document control using enterprise systems while adhering to information lifecycle governance.

• Contribute to lessons learned through internal/external client debriefs.

• Assist pursuit teams in development and preparation of qualifications materials, including brochures, slide decks, leave-behinds, question and answer preparation, team rehearsals, and technology.

• Support pursuit efforts led by BGs and assembled support resources while maintaining a consistent HDR brand.

• Monitor adherence to Quality Control/Quality Assurance for pursuit projects.

• Oversee the development of benefit statements, project profiles and standard material (graphics, org charts, and other collateral materials) for use in proposals, qualification submittals,

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, architecture, engineering, or closely related field

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated self-starter with a history of completing projects with limited oversight
  • Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry's standard approach to procurement of professional services
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Maintain a professional or engineering registration or certificate or have related technical experience
  • Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in-person
  • Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff
